Dead Space . A small masterpiece of the modern survival horror genre in the world of video games. A genre actually the child of the cinematic legacy of myths like Alien and its legendary xenomorph.
When was Dead Space born?
Born in 2008 from the creative mind of the developers of Electronic Arts, Dead Space tells a horror journey inside the mining spaceship, USG Ishimura. Radio contacts and signs of any activity have been lost. Years of science fiction and horror weren’t enough to understand that it is better to abandon a space station that does not respond to requests via radio. However, the protagonist of the story, Isaac Clarke, with his surviving mission mates, will face an intense struggle for survival against the alien horror aroused by the excavation work of the mining station. The ghostly lights of the halls and corridors reveal aberrant monsters. Monsters that represent a tough survival challenge against which we will immediately find ourselves fighting. Exploration becomes a hallucinatory journey to a space hell. The space station itself increasingly assumes the connotations of an organic and alien entity.
The wise setting
The attraction exerted by Dead Space does not end only in the powerful atmosphere created by the settings. The excellent combat system and the terrifying design of the “Necromorphs” keep the gamer’s attention high for the duration of the mission. Dead Space is a sensory experience of great impact. The graphics engine succeeds in the task of creating a distressing and original atmosphere. The corridors and gray and aseptic rooms of the Ishimura are transformed into mysterious places full of looming threats. The claustrophobic environments are interspersed with splendid views of the stellar space. The excellent audio sector makes the gaming experience a continuous sensory stimulation, which favors a really deep identification. The sudden blows, the distant or near moans of enemies, the constant background noise of the ship, Isaac’s footsteps and his choked breath,
